Police charge Charlotte man with shooting three people in Shelby
George Thomas Dunlap was arrested Thursday.
Investigators are still working to find the motive in the drive-by shooting that occurred shortly after 10 p.m. on Tuesday, April 6.
A gathering of about 30 people were at a house in the 1400 block of Frederick Street when shots rang out.
A spray of gunfire flew through the crowd, striking two Shelby men and a man from Forest City.
Each of those injured, ages 24, 27 and 31, was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Dunlap, 20, of Charlotte, is charged with three counts of assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury, assault by pointing a gun, possession of a stolen firearm, possession of a stolen vehicle, eluding arrest and driving with a revoked license.

Prescription Take Back Event Totals RICHLAND COUNTY, OH: On April 24, 2021 the METRICH Enforcement Unit along with the Mansfield Division of Police, the Richland County Sheriff’s Office, the Shelby Police Department, Community Action for Capable Youth (CASY), and the Third St Clinic participated in the Drug Enforcement Administration’s (DEA) National Prescription Take Back Initiative. In addition to Richland County law enforcement agencies, numerous other law enforcement agencies from the METRICH region also participated. The METRICH region collected over 1,389 pounds of unused or expired prescription medication. Community participation and commitment by all law enforcement agencies in the METRICH region was key to the success of this event.
