Meet the first Arab female astronaut Nora AlMatrooshi

Nora AlMatrooshi was born in 1993 and she is from the emirate of Sharjah. She obtained a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from the United Arab Emirates University in 2015 along with training from the Vaasa University of Applied Sciences in Finland.
AlMatrooshi is a member of The American Society of Mechanical Engineers and is currently working as an engineer at the National Petroleum Construction Company.
Her career accomplishments include managing engineering projects for the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC).
She was also the vice president of the Youth Council for three consecutive years at the National Petroleum Construction Company.

At an intimate ceremony at Qasr Al Hosn, His Highness Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, honoured 12 remarkable individuals at the 10th edition of the Abu Dhabi Awards.
The recipients were announced via a broadcast televised on Abu Dhabi and Al Emarat TV channels on Friday.
Held under the patronage of Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed, the Abu Dhabi Awards celebrate compassionate individuals who have selflessly devoted their time and effort to spreading goodness and serving the community.
