Director of Shreveport’s airports resigns
The director of a north Louisiana city’s airports is resigning.
Shreveport Regional Airport Director Wade Davis submitted his resignation Monday, citing personal reasons, news outlets reported.
The City Council appointed Davis as director of Shreveport Regional and the city’s Downtown Airport in December 2019. Davis’ last day will be June 4, officials said.
During his time in Shreveport, Davis experienced the tail end of the highest year of passengers seen at Shreveport Regional Airport in 14 years as well as the global pandemic that forced the airport to see a drop of 53% fewer passengers from 2019.

UPDATE: Cross Lake Crashed Plane Found, Pilot Identified
UPDATE: Pilot killed in single engine plane crash has been identified as Freddie Phillips.
The fixed-wing plane took off from Shreveport Regional Airport at 2:36 p.m. Sunday and crashed into Cross Lake about ten minutes after takeoff. The plane is owned by Pocket Jet LLC on Marshall Street in Shreveport. Phillips was the manager of that company.
He was also CEO of Phillips Energy. He is survived by five children.

Late Sunday afternoon (5/23/21) a small single-engine plane was reported crashed in Cross Lake. Several Shreveport and Caddo agencies worked together on rescue efforts to locate the crashed plane and rescue any survivors.

SHREVEPORT, La. (AP) A Louisiana oilman who survived a fatal explosion and house fire in 2019 has died in the crash of a one-seat jet plane assembled from a kit.
Fred L. Phillips of Shreveport died Sunday afternoon when his single-engine SubSonex plane with tail number N465JC crashed into Cross Lake, the Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Office said.
He was 73, the coroner’s office said.
Phillips was president and CEO of Phillips Energy Inc., said Oliver Jenkins, chief operating officer of Phillips Energy Investments, a related company.
The plane flew for about nine minutes before crashing, the sheriff’s office said in a news release Sunday. It said several witnesses reported the crash. Phillips’ body was recovered from the plane after divers found it.
