During National Travel and Tourism Week, May 2-8, cities across the United States are promoting the best their communities have to offer to increase visitations to local attractions, events, and businesses.
The push for tourism is crucial as cities across the country attempt to bounce back after more than a year of decreased travels and public outings.
The COVID-19 pandemic has “devasted all of Louisiana,” said Lieutenant Governor Billy Nungesser.
The Louisiana Office of Tourism and the Shreveport Bossier Convention and Tourist Bureau is focused on rebuilding the local economy and tourism and hospitality industries.
“Travel and tourism is a huge impact on our economy,” said Stacy Brown, president of SBCTB. “It is one of the best ways we can come back from COVID and one of the quickest ways.”
Last year, the company was listed on the Inc. 5000 at No. 1,181 with its 384% growth. It ranked 12th in Louisiana and first in Shreveport-Bossier City.
But a combination of the COVID-19 pandemic and not enough business in the Shreveport-Bossier City area led founders Konstantin Dolgan and Onega Ulanova to look for another market. We had to expand and open up a presence where there was still some business going on, Dolgan said.
The company, which began operation in Shreveport in 2016, found a market that provided an opportunity to extend their geographic reach in Miami. Out of all of the towns we ve been in in the U.S., it was the one we liked the most, Dolgan said from Miami. Because of the culture, the temperature, the climate, a lot of international business. It s a dynamic business environment.
