(KSLA) - Before travelers make their way to the Shreveport Regional Airport terminal the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) team is ready for them. In a news release, TSA says that acrylic barriers and upgraded technology have reduced or eliminated contact between passengers and TSA staff. “The health and safety of our workforce and the traveling public remain our critical mission,” said Arden Hudson, Federal Security Director with the Transportation Security Administration for the State of Louisiana, in a news release. “In addition to new technology, the TSA has installed acrylic barriers to separate passengers and TSA officers at strategic locations in the checkpoint at SHV.”

(KSLA) - The Shreveport Airport Authority is set to receive just over $5 million in grant money from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to make improvements to the airport, Senator Bill Cassidy, MD announced Thursday, April 1. Ten other grants will be issued to Louisiana airports for a total of $13,146,304. The Shreveport Downtown Airport will receive $5,143,712 to rehabilitate 5,016 feet of runway to maintain the structural integrity of the pavement and to minimize foreign object debris.

These projects will reconstruct taxiways, rehabilitate taxiway lighting and runways, conduct airport wildlife hazard assessment/management plan, update airport master plans, construct terminal buildings, and improve airport drainage and erosion control.
