AT least four Harare City Council officials and 13 councillors are facing arrest over allegations of attempting to siphon millions of dollars in a dubious US$868 million Chinese loan deal.
The Special Anti-Corruption Unit in the Office of the President (Sacu) is probing suspended town clerk Hosea Chisango, acting chamber secretary, Charles Kandemiri, acting finance director Stanley Ndemera and acting Harare water director Mabhena Moyo.
Councillors under investigation include Kudzai Kadzombe, Stewart Mutizwa and Luckson Mukunguma.
Documents at hand show that councillors sat jointly as the Environment Management Committee and the Finance Committee to endorse an alleged fraudulent report from the town clerk’s office.
Corruption: Senior cop Makodza arrested

The top cop in Matabeleland North was arrested yesterday for allowing his girlfriend to run private businesses on a police farm since 2019 without paying a cent into police funds.
Commissioner Erasmus Makodza, now the officer commanding Matabeleland North, was arrested by the Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission on charges of criminal abuse of office for allegedly concealing from the police a personal transaction involving the force when he was in his previous post as officer commanding Mashonaland East.
Makodza, who allegedly purported to be representing the police in the deal structured with his girlfriend, Mawonei Chapfudza, entered into a joint venture agreement for Lendy Farm in Marondera in 2019 and imposed her as a private investor.
Police Commissioner arrested

OFFICER commanding Matabeleland North Province, Commissioner Erasmus Makodza was yesterday arrested for abuse of office after he allegedly he imposed his girlfriend, Maonei Chapfudza, as an investor to partner with the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) in several horticultural projects in 2019.
Makodza was nabbed by the Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission (Zacc) for the alleged offences, which he allegedly committed while he was still the Officer Commanding Mashonaland East province.
He is beng charged under the Criminal Law (Codification and Reform) Act for allegedly concealing from his principals in the ZRP, his personal interest in a transaction.
