President humbles at thanksgiving prayer Mashudu Netsianda Bulawayo Bureau PRESIDENT Mnangagwa yesterday joined a national thanksgiving prayer and implored churches to embrace Government’s economic development agenda, saying synergies between them and the State must flourish for the country to achieve Vision 2030. The President made the remarks while addressing congregants during the fourth edition of the annual National Thanksgiving and Dedication Service at the Zimbabwe International Trade Fair (ZITF) Grounds. He urged churches and other stakeholders to complement Government efforts in promoting economic growth and development in pursuance of the national vision to transform the economy into an upper middle-income status by 2030.

December 27, 2020 in Opinion On December 17, 2020, the Broadcasting Authority of Zimbabwe (BAZ) gave all of us an unexpected Christmas gift in the form of licensing of three community radio initiatives, a development which several media advocacy groups reacted positively to, most notably the Zimbabwe Association of Community Radio Stations (Zacras), which welcomed the development and expressed hope that the other seven applicants awaiting determination by BAZ at the time, would also be licensed. This is a long journey which started several years back with many stakeholders both in and outside of the media sector playing various roles including civil society organisations that chose to mainstream community broadcasting advocacy in their work.

NYASHA CHINGONO The raid of Mugabe’s family project symbolises the demise of a dictator who ruled with an iron fist and fear for 37 years and the powerlessness of his wife who once stomped the political landscape like a colossus. Mugabe’s herd has now been drastically depleted from 2 000 to 600 cattle since when the late Mugabe was ousted in a coup in November 2017 as villagers, mainly former workers, slaughter the beasts for meat.
