AT A GLANCE. Disclosed at the Wednesday, May 12, regular session of the Cebu City Council, which looked into the status of the Cebu Bus Rapid Transit Project (BRT):
[1] Norvin Ymbong, deputy project manager for systems and stakeholders relations of the Department of Transportation (DOTr), said the first part, called Package 1, spanning about 2.38 kilometers of dedicated lane with four bus stations from the Cebu South Bus Terminal (CSBT) along Natalio Bacalso Ave. to the Capitol area, along Osmeña Blvd. will be operational in December this year. The original target was October 2016 but it has been reset three times already (December 2017, January 2020 and December 2021).

+ May 12, 2021 CEBU City Councilor James Anthony Cuenco, committee on transportation chairman, is doubtful that the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) project will be partially operational by the end of the year.
The proponent of the BRT project targeted to initially roll out the first phase of the project by December 2021.
But Cuenco said with all the processes the BRT project still has to go through, he doubts that the target will be met.
“Di na lang gyud ko mo-expect ani nga mahuman ni og December (I will not expect that this will be finished by December),” said Cuenco in an interview on May 12, 2021.

+ May 06, 2021 THE Department of Transportation (DOTr) is seeking an extension of its multibillion-peso World Bank loan for Cebu’s Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) system as the loan is set to close about a month from now on June 30, 2021.
In a press conference in Cebu City on Thursday, May 6, DOTr Secretary Arthur Tugade said he has met with the World Bank and submitted a proposal.
