Albany, N.Y. Prominent New York Republicans flocked to Albany’s Renaissance Hotel on Monday to discuss the party’s plans for the 2022 gubernatorial campaign as incumbent Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo faces multiple investigations and polls showing decreasing approval of him from the public.
The attendees at Monday’s gathering pitched themselves to Republican county chairs and other party leaders in a meeting behind closed doors, delivering presentations and answering questions for about 15 to 20 minutes each. The symposium started around 10:30 a.m. and ran into the afternoon.

There are mixed results for embattled New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo in the latest poll from the Siena College Research Institute.
The poll released Monday showed the governor s favorability rating remains under water, by a margin of 40% to 52%. New Yorkers also believe Cuomo committed sexual harassment, by a 2-1 margin.
Still, 60% approve the Democrat’s handling of the coronavirus pandemic and about half (51%) do not believe Cuomo should resign. By a 52% to 38% margin, New Yorkers said the governor who is facing multiple investigations into his handling of COVID-19 in nursing homes, sexual harassment allegations and his pandemic memoir can effectively do his job.
