The strong collaboration between Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy (Siemens Gamesa) and customer Hai Long Offshore Wind Project (Hai Long) has been extended to 1044 MW. Siemens Gamesa’s largest offshore agreement in Taiwan to date now covers the Hai Long 2B (232 MW) and Hai Long 3 (512 MW) projects. The preferred supplier agreement for Hai Long 2A (300 MW) was announced on 13 November 2019.
Flagship SG 14-222 DD offshore wind turbines and service for the full volume of the project are included in the preferred supplier agreement. The agreement remains subject to contract and final investment decision from Hai Long consortium partners, Canadian independent power producer (IPP) Northland Power Inc. and Taiwan-based developer Yushan Energy Co., Ltd., jointly owned by Mitsui & Co., Ltd. in Japan and Yushan Energy Pte., Ltd. in Singapore. This is expected in 2022.

Danish government has designated Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy’s wind-to-hydrogen pilot project currently under development nearby the company’s Danish headquarters in Brande
as an official regulatory energy test zone.
The test zone permit gives Siemens Gamesa dispensation from electricity regulations in order to test its potential future application for both onshore and offshore wind.
The project, called Brande Hydrogen, is the first pilot project in the world to connect a wind turbine to an electrolyser with the ability to operate in ‘island mode’, i.e. driving an electrolysis rig with no link to an electricity grid, according to Siemens Gamesa. It couples an existing onshore 3 MW wind turbine with a Green Hydrogen Systems electrolyser stack to produce green hydrogen, which is then distributed by Danish company Everfuel to power Copenhagen’s fuel cell taxi fleet.

Offshore wind turbine maker Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy has secured, subject to final contract awards, more work in Taiwanese offshore wind space.
The company was back in November 2019 announced as a preferred supplier of offshore wind turbines for Hai Long 2A (300 MW) project.
In a statement on Wednesday, Siemens Gamesa said that the collaboration with Taiwan-based customer Hai Long Offshore Wind Project (Hai Long) had been extended to 1,044 MW. Siemens Gamesa’s largest offshore agreement in Taiwan to date now covers the Hai Long 2B (232 MW) and Hai Long 3 (512 MW) projects, Siemens Gamesa said.
The wind turbine maker said that its giant 14MW SG 14-222 DD offshore wind turbines and service for the full volume of the project are included in the preferred supplier agreement.
