$12M wind farm begins operations in Adams County

LIND — Commercial operations are now underway at Avista Utilities and Clearway Energy Group s Rattlesnake Flat wind farm in Adams County. Avista Utilities and Clearway Energy Group began construction in April of Rattlesnake Flat, which is located on 20,000 acres of privately-owned land near Lind. The 160-megawatt Rattlesnake Flat consists of 57 wind turbines that will provide enough energy to power 38,000 homes per year, officials said. The turbines connect to Avista s transmission grid as part of a 20-year purchase power agreement between the Spokane-based utility company and San Francisco-based Clearway Energy Corp. Avista Corp. CEO Dennis Vermillion said during a virtual ceremony on Tuesday that Rattlesnake Flat aligns with the utility company s goal of providing clean, reliable energy to customers at a reasonable cost.

Hutchinson Siemens Gamesa plant will make turbines for Nebraska farm

The Haystack project will include 51 SG 5.0-145 wind turbines and 18 safe harbor turbines. Nacelles and hubs for the turbines will be manufactured in both Hutchinson and the corporation’s Agreda, Spain facilities in order to meet delivery timelines, said Myca Welch, a company spokesperson in Hutchinson. The Hutchinson plant has been building a variation of the SG 5.0 since February, Welch said. The SG 5.0-145 wind turbine features a state-of-the-art control system and enhanced blade aerodynamics that optimize power generation, the release stated. Thanks to its “OptimaFlex” technology, the turbine also features a flexible power rating ranging between 4.0 and 5.0 MW, providing a tailored solution that fits the specific conditions of each site.

Siemens Gamesa Gets Turbine Order for Wind Farm in Nebraska

The Haystack project includes the supply of 51 SG 5.0-145 wind turbines and 18 safe harbor turbines, the Spanish turbine maker said. Deliveries should start next summer and the commissioning is expected in the last quarter of next year, it said.
