Netflix have announced a much anticipated documentary on the murder of Sophie Toscan du Plantier in Co Cork will be released on the streaming service on June 3oth.
Produced by Lightbox and directed by BAFTA nominee John Dower, Sophie: A Murder in West Cork will examine one of Ireland’s most high-profile murder investigations.
The documentary will detail the murder of the French documentary producer in 1996, examining the circumstances and long-running investigation that ensued.
It will also feature contributions from Sophie’s family, Schull residents, and local press.
Last year, Netflix also confirmed the documentary would include the testimony of Ian Bailey, the man who was at the centre of the investigation.

Produced by Lightbox and directed by BAFTA nominee John Dower, the documentary is set to air on the streaming platform from June 30th.
The documentary will include relatives of Sophie, residents in the Schull area and local press. Netflix have also confirmed that the man at the centre of the investigation, Ian Bailey, will also feature in the documentary. Mr. Bailey has denied any involvement in Sophie Toscan du Plantier s death.

Examining the murder of French documentary producer Sophie Toscan du Plantier in Ireland in 1996, the three-part documentary series is produced by Oscar-winning producer of Man on Wire Simon Chinn and features contributions from Sophie’s family, including her son Pierre-Louis Baudey.
“With access both to the victim’s family and those involved in the story, the series unravels this extraordinary story from its beginning and offers a unique window into the ongoing battle to find justice for Sophie,” Netflix says.

NETFLIX has announced it is dropping a chilling documentary uncovering the brutal murder of Sophie Toscan du Plantier.
The three-part series examines the case after the French documentary producer and writer was beaten to death at the age of 39, outside her holiday home near Toormore, Schull, County Cork, Ireland, on the night of 23 December 1996.
