Ontario is reporting 2,063 new cases of COVID-19 today and 73 more deaths linked to virus.

The province says 1,273 people were hospitalized with COVID-19 as of Saturday.
Of those, 353 patients were in intensive care and 216 were on ventilators.
Provincial data says 9,373 COVID-19 vaccine doses were administered Friday, for a total of 336,828 doses across the province.
Meanwhile, a public health physician with the Sioux Lookout First Nations Health Authority says a rise in cases among northwestern Ontario Indigenous communities is a wake-up call for the region.
Dr. John Guilfoyle says recent cases in five communities appear to have been contained, but people should be extremely careful.

Ontario reported 2,063 new cases of COVID-19 and 73 more deaths on Saturday.
The new positive cases include 713 in Toronto, 379 in Peel Region and 178 in York Region.
According to provincial data, the overall number of people with COVID-19 in hospitals dropped by 18, bringing the total to 1,273.
Patients in intensive care units dropped by seven to 353, and the number of people who required ventilators fell by 55, bringing the total to 216.
Some concerning news on the COVID-19 front in first nation communities.
Dr. John Guilfoyle is with the Sioux Lookout First Nations Health Authority and he is reporting eight new cases.
-3 new cases in Webequie. All are asymptomatic. Case and contact management is in place and the three individuals are doing well and in isolation
-2 case in Pikangikum. Case management and contact tracing is taking place
-1 case in Polar Hill. Under investigation
-1 case in Frenchman’s Head. Person is doing well and is safely isolating in the community
-1 case in Nibinamik. External worker who had left the community
