Photo: file Gas shortage across many cities of the country is proving to be troublesome for citizens as gas stations continue to close and appliances requiring gas to function remain useless for hours, according to a report in The News.  Sindh and Balochistan have both announced the closure of gas stations across the provinces as the Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) had stated earlier that supply would remain suspended during two days of the week Saturday and Sunday.

Bids for the auction are expected to be held by mid-January to encourage exploration activities in the country, he said in an interview with the Bloomberg, a US-based news agency.

The Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) had said the supply will remain suspended for two days a week on Mondays and Saturdays.

Gas shortage hits Pindiites hard amid chilly weather Islamabad December 20, 2020 Rawalpindi : The gas crisis is worsening day-by-day as the consumers are running behind expensive LPG, woods, coal, kerosene oil in the absence of natural gas amid chilly weather. The SNGPL has announced to close down all CNG stations but still gas remains absent most of the day. Over 40 per cent of ‘tandoors’ have closed down their businesses due to the absence of natural gas while others are buying expensive LPG cylinders or wood. In the light of present circumstances, LPG sellers are looting the public with both hands and selling 1-kilogram gas at Rs170 to Rs200. The woodcutters also taking full advantage of the present situation and selling 40-kilogram dry wood at Rs800 and 1-kilogram coal at Rs90. The kerosene oil sellers are selling oil in ‘black’ at Rs150 per litre.

Govt arranges 12 LNG cargoes for January Business December 20, 2020 ISLAMABAD: The government has procured 12 cargoes of liquefied natural gas (LNG) to meet growing energy demand next month following temperature drops in winters, a ministry’s spokesperson said on Saturday. The ministry of energy’s spokesperson said the country will be moving 30 percent more LNG this January compared to January 2019 at the cheapest ever price of $6.34 / million metric British thermal unit for a peak winter month. One cargo that was scheduled for 30th December was moved a few days ago into January, said the spokesperson. In addition volume has been increased in certain cargoes.
