Possible COVID-19 exposure at three Seneca County establishments on March 12 & 13 The Seneca County Health Department is warning residents of three possible exposures to COVID-19 in recent days. The exposure occurred on March 12 and March 13 at locations including Mojo’s Tavern, F-n-A’s, and the Waterloo VFW- all in Waterloo. The signs and symptoms of COVID-19 include fever, cough, shortness of breath, chills, headache, sore throat, and a new loss of sense of taste or smell. Risk of exposure in these cases is low, but the potential for contracting COVID-19 still exists, which is why health officials said they announced the possible exposure.

COVID-19 Deaths Confirmed in Seneca, Chemung Counties

Jan 5, 2021 The Seneca County Health Department confirms 5 more people have died of COVID-19 at a Waterloo nursing home. All 5 lived at Huntington Living Center. More than 80 people at the home have contracted the virus, with 33 recovered at last check. The overall death toll in the county now stands at 44. Meanwhile, another coronavirus death is confirmed in Chemung County, raising the death toll there to 66.  

COVID vaccines head to New York county health departments

New York State Team Dozens of COVID-19 vaccine clinics run by county officials are opening up across New York state as part of the dire push to expand access to shots following a slow rollout inside hospitals and nursing homes last month. So far, 46 local health departments have received doses of COVID-19 vaccines and plan to begin inoculating health care workers and other groups on the pandemic front lines in coming days and weeks, according to the governor s office and county officials. The county health departments are part of 636 sites statewide that have been activated thus far in order to get COVID-19 vaccine shots into arms, Gov. Andrew Cuomo said Tuesday. The other sites include 244 federally qualified health centers, 213 hospital-related locales and 133 urgent care facilities.

Then on Tuesday, 26 residents also tested positive for the virus. St. Francis leaders said they are working closely with the Seneca County Health Department to conduct contact tracing.
