Petra Egan, 60, was more than four times the legal drink-drive limit after visiting the Borders General Hospital on the morning of October 25. Last month police stopped her in Scott Crescent, Galashiels, and she gave a breath/alcohol reading of 85 microgrammes - the legal limit being 22. In addition to the disqualification, she was ordered to carry out 130 hours of unpaid work.

Peter Martin appeared from custody at Selkirk Sheriff Court last Monday and pleaded guilty to assaulting his father in Bongate, Jedburgh, on Sunday, April 18. He also admitted vandalising a motor vehicle and breaching a court bail order in Chirnside during the early hours of the following morning (Monday, April 19). Sentence was deferred until May 10 for background reports. Bail was refused and Martin was remanded in custody.

Keith Atkinson, 68, from Edinburgh, pleaded guilty to the offence which happened on the A72 near Innerleithen on 1 March 2020. Annie Notman, 82, from Biggar, died as a result of her injuries a day after the four-vehicle crash. Sentence was deferred at Selkirk Sheriff Court until 18 May for background reports.
