A statement released via the Abu Dhabi Media Office said the Quiet Hour aims to provide a quieter, more comfortable shopping experience with people with audio-sensory and autism disorders, while also enhancing social inclusion by raising awareness of their needs for reduced audiovisual sensations.
The ZHO has previously worked with the Abu Dhabi Early Childhood Authority to create sensory play areas for People of Determination at Yas Mall, and at Al Ain’s Jimi Mall.

A number of Abu Dhabi residents have been honoured for their contribution to the community in the UAE capital.
They received their accolades from Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, at the 10th edition of the Abu Dhabi Awards which took place on Friday evening.
The awards were set up to celebrate those who had selflessly dedicated themselves to helping others, aiding the development of Abu Dhabi in the process.
Nominations for the awards were open from May to December in 2019. However, the Covid-19 pandemic meant the ceremony was put on hold.

Yas Mall will implement the quiet room on the first Monday of each month, starting from April 5, to help people with autism and other sensory disorders.
From 11am to 12pm, sensory-controlled shopping experiences will see brightness of lights reduced, music cancelled and odours from perfume and incense stores limited. Additionally, all advertisements will be stopped, except for emergency information.

This includes a quiet room that provided a haven inside the mall for those in need, aiming to help people with autism and other sensory disorders and their parents, allowing them to spend some time and relax in a sensory-controlled environment, creating a safe and quiet place, where families can enjoy a customised shopping experience.

The labelling will be available in Arabic, English, and Urdu languages.
The UAE has launched a new initiative to provide medication instruction labels in Braille in order to help the visually impaired read medicine labels independently.

The move was undertaken by the Ministry of Health and Prevention (Mohap) to protect the rights of people of determination and provide all the appropriate services to support their integration into society.
The Braille labelling was prepared by experts and printed at the printing press of the Zayed Higher Organization for People of Determination (ZHO), the UAE’s only facility that provides such a service.
