MOUNT VERNON, Wash. Burlington’s mayor has proposed a site for a year-round homeless shelter.
The Skagit Valley Herald reports Mayor Steve Sexton wants to build a permanent shelter on Pease Road on city-owned property.
The property could accommodate about 40 small prefabricated shelter units and the existing warehouse on the property used as a space for homeless support services.
If everything goes well, Sexton said the shelter could open in the spring.
