(AP) The body of a missing 37-year-old Nevada woman was recovered from a logjam on the Cascade River on Friday, according to the Skagit County Sheriff’s Office. The woman and a 62-year-old Oak Harbor man went missing Thursday while floating down the Cascade River. A search began Thursday night after the pair did not arrive as planned at the Marble Creek campground, the Skagit Valley Herald reported.

By asmith July 9, 2021 3:33 pm KGMI SKAGIT COUNTY, Wash. – Six deaths in Skagit County are being attributed to last month’s record-breaking heat wave. The Skagit County Coroner’s Office said the deaths were reported between June 28th and July 4th. Chief Deputy Coroner Deb Hollis told the Skagit Valley Herald the deceased were three men and three women between the ages of 60 and 94. Three of the victims were from Mount Vernon, while Anacortes, Sedro-Woolley and Hamilton each reported one death. Yesterday, the state Department of Health reported 78 heat-related deaths statewide.
