While Missouri continues to increase the number of COVID-19 vaccines, Scott County remains one of the top-10 counties in the state for percentage of residents who have received the vaccine.
According to the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services, 8.9% of Missourians have received at least one dose of the vaccine with 154,270 receiving doses in the last week. Just under 3% have received two doses of the vaccine.
As of Tuesday morning, Scott County is sixth in Missouri with 14% of residents receiving a dose of the vaccine. In Scott County, 6,357 doses have been given to residents with 5,373 receiving one dose and 978 receiving both doses. In the past week, 847 doses have been given to Scott County residents.

Shorter, 52, who has lived in The Heritage, 501 W. 3rd St., Davenport, for the past five years, grabbed a makeshift sign he wrote Monday and hit Third Street’s frozen pavement. Shorter was bound for Davenport City Hall one block up.
“I’m tired of being called (racial slurs) by some of the other people who live in The Heritage,” Shorter said from behind the two disposable masks stretched over his mouth and nose.
“I’m tired of asking for help, asking to be heard, and never getting anything back from anyone,” Shorter continued as he stood in weather that couldn’t push the mercury past 25 degrees.

Phase 1B of COVID-19 vaccinations begin Feb. 1st across Iowa for first responders, essential frontline workers and people age 65 and older. The Scott County Public Health Department is holding its first public clinic to vaccinate those who are 65 and older.
All 500 appointments for Monday s clinic are already called for, as hundreds of people will get their first dose of the Moderna Vaccine. Registrations filled up last week within just half an hour. Monday s clinic runs from 10:00 A.M. to 3:00 P.M. inside the old sears department store.
