The Royal Commission into Crown’s Melbourne casino has found money laundering could still be a problem despite attempts by the Packer-built empire to end financial crime across its facilities.
Counsel Assisting Meg O’Sullivan said, “A relevant question will be whether Crown can be found suitable while such reforms are pending."
The Motley Fool’s Scott Phillips pointed out people should not be surprised by the finding because casino’s have a history of being used for money laundering.
“Casinos have long been a magnate for money laundering,” he said.
Mr Phillips said Crown Casinos were fast-tracking cashless gambling in response to money laundering concerns.
Buy now, pay later giant Zip’s acquisitions in the Middle East and Europe are a “good move”, according to the Motley Fool’s Scott Phillips.
“Here on the ASX there’s another eight or nine buy now, pay later players who want their slice of the pie. They can’t all win,” he said.
“If you get there first. If you become the known brand name, the best option to go to, that’s really good for business.”
Mr Phillips said rolling out buy now, pay later to “less penetrated” markets would allow Zip to get to customers first.
