Scottish independence-backing firms to double £50k raised in Yes campaign

BUSINESS backers of Scottish independence have contributed £50,000 in matching donations to an indyref2 fundraiser run by Believe in Scotland. Believe in Scotland is the largest and most active independence campaigning organisation and incorporates the business and economic wellbeing campaign group Business for Scotland. The organisation was awarded Independence Campaign of the Year (2020) by The National newspaper and the Scottish Independence Foundation after launching in January 2020. The pro-independence business donors from Business for Scotland have agreed to match the first £50,000 raised from the independence-supporting public – pound for pound. So if the initiative raises £25,000 it pulls down an additional £25,000 to raise £50,000 in total and if it generates £50,000 the sum raised will total £100,000 to support local Yes Groups as they get ready for indyref2.

Grassroots activities playing their part in the Yes movement

THE Yes movement has come a long way since the announcement in 2012 of the campaign for a Yes vote in the independence referendum held on September 18, 2014. We all know what happened in that vote and how Project Fear worked to deter people from voting Yes by telling blatant lies – such as the only way to safeguard Scotland’s position in the European Union was to vote No. Or not, as proved to be the case . The idea of Better Together was to beat the pro-independence side once and for all and bury the Yes movement for ever. Except things didn’t quite work out that way. Not only is the Yes movement bigger and stronger than ever, it is thriving in places where it never prospered before and among people who have turned to Yes as the only way forward for their country.

Scotland & Independence: Smart pocket handbook for new Scots and mibbies

IT’S small enough to fit into your pocket or bag but the new booklet Scotland & Independence is set to make a big impact on the campaign for the nation to regain its status as an independent nation. Written by prominent Yes activists Ian Grant and John Brown, Scotland & Independence is a smart 40-page booklet that contains practically all the information Yes campaigners would need. If, say, they were meeting new Scots anxious to find out about independence, or those people who haven’t made up their mind yet – the “mibbies”, as we have called them. Some 50,000 booklets will be printed and published this week. Thanks to a generous donation from the Scottish Independence Foundation (SIF), the booklet is free of charge, though a small, or even large, donation to SIF would be appreciated.

SNP s indyref2 war chest piles pressure on Unionist parties and Westminster

Exclusive Former Cabinet minister Marco Biagi is part of a ‘dedicated team to focus on delivering a Yes vote’ VIRAL videos or strategist salaries? A political scientist and the head of a Yes funding body set out their views on the SNP’s £600,000 indyref campaign commitment today. The six-figure spending pledge was set out at a meeting of the party’s ruling National Executive Committee (NEC). The ring-fenced funds will be spent this financial year on “referendum preparations”. Dr Samuel Power, of the University of Sussex, told the Sunday National that this kind of public declaration is uncommon – and itself is part of a push to put pressure on Westminster to grant the Section 30 order needed to trigger a fresh ballot.
