Scottish hospitality calls for end to official Euro 2020 gatherings hypocrisy

Euro2020 fanzone could lead to new Glasgow lockdown , firms fear

Glasgow s George Square. Photo Colin Mearns SCOTLAND S largest city could be back under Level 3 restrictions or in full lockdown if a plan for a Euro 2020 fan zone goes ahead and sends coronavirus infection rates spiralling, bars and restaurant owners fear. Hospitality venues in Glasgow have been under tighter restrictions than anywhere else in the country but will move to Level 2 from Saturday, allowing them to open for longer and serve alcohol indoors. After months of closure or limited trading the sector is concerned by the plans to allow up to 6000 people per day to gather on Glasgow Green. The fan zone is expected to open when the tournament starts on June 11 and allow admission daily until the final game on July 11.
