Sign Up Rich Forte reckons he has the best job in the world, as an aircrew paramedic on the Scotland’s Charity Air Ambulance helicopter at Aberdeen. “It’s a job that takes you from zero to a hundred in a heartbeat,” explained the 34-year-old who has been with SCAA both as a reservist at Perth and then on the north-east’s Helimed 79 crew since its launch.

Sign Up From snowy ski slopes and wind-buffeted remote islands to pitch-black roadsides and sunny beaches, the crew of Helimed 79 has experienced all the seasons of Scotland in its first year of operation. SCAA’s (Scotland’s Charity Air Ambulance) second aircraft, based in Aberdeen, has travelled almost 22,000 nautical miles since its launch 12 months ago.

A person has been taken to hospital following a two-car crash on the A96. The fire service has said two appliances were called to the scene of the incident between Huntly and Inverurie at around 4.20pm, and firefighters used cutting gear and stabilisation equipment. It is understood the person was transported to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary by Scotland’s Charity Air Ambulance, which also took a group of medics to the site.
