167 new covid19 cases, no deaths recorded 2 Days Ago The number of new covid19 cases reported on Thursday is double that of Wednesday, with 167 cases being detected in samples taken between April 19 and 21. Wednesday’s figure was 81. The Health Ministry’s release said of the 167 new cases, 23 were from offshore platforms. The number of active cases is now 1,161. The number of deaths remains at 157. Since beaches were closed on April 15, the number of active cases has almost doubled, moving from 630 to 1,161. There were nine deaths in that period. The highest number of cases detected was 171, while the lowest was 24. There are 107 patients in hospital, 11 more than Wednesday. Of these, there are 65 patients at the Couva Hospital and Multi-Training Facility, with six people in the intensive care unit and seven in the high dependency unit. There are 20 patients at the Caura Hospital, and 22 at the Scarborough Regional Hospital, Fort King George.
