CINCINNATI, Ohio â The News Literacy Project and The E.W. Scripps Company are teaming up to launch a national public awareness campaign to promote news literacy and the role of a free press in American democracy.
This comes as information â and misinformation â surge around recent national events.
The campaign is part of the second annual National News Literacy Week, which runs from Jan. 25 to Jan. 29. The week aims to promote news literacy as a fundamental life skill and to provide the public with the tools needed to be an informed and empowered populace.

CINCINNATI, Jan. 14, 2021 /PRNewswire/ The E.W. Scripps Company (NASDAQ: SSP) will begin to migrate its multicast networks Bounce, Court TV, Court TV Mystery, Grit and Laff to carriage on the company s newly acquired ION stations beginning March 1. The rolling transition will continue as those networks affiliation agreements expire over the next five years.
Scripps will continue to operate the ION Television network on its 48 ION stations primary channels but will cease operations of the ION multicast networks ION Plus, QUBO and SHOP ION, effective Feb. 28.

CINCINNATI, Dec. 18, 2020 /PRNewswire/ The E.W. Scripps Company (NASDAQ: SSP) has appointed Jason Combs, Scripps vice president of financial planning and analysis, as its next chief financial officer, after a nationwide search. The appointment will be effective upon the close of Scripps acquisition of ION Media.
Combs, 44, will replace Lisa Knutson, who will lead the newly combined businesses of ION Media, the five Katz networks and Newsy.
As head of Scripps financial planning and analysis, Combs has led the enterprise budget and forecast process, is deeply involved in enterprise-wide strategic planning and manages the finance team supporting the businesses. He has played a key role advising senior leaders in all activities related to quarterly earnings, investor messaging and key investment discussions.
