All-American midfielders Katie Bourque and Kerrigan Miller joined North Carolina this offseason from Dartmouth and USC, respectively. Bourque led the Big Green to a top-10 ranking and a perfect record as one of the country’s best scorers in 2020, averaging 4.2 goals per game. She finished her career at Dartmouth with 98 goals and 133 points.

Already the unquestioned No. 1 team at the end of the shortened 2020 season, North Carolina got even better in the offseason.
Head coach Jenny Levy added Kerrigan Miller and Katie Bourque as transfers to fortify the midfield, strengthening the team between the 30s and positioning the Tar Heels as the No. 1 team in the Nike/US Lacrosse Division I Women’s Preseason Top 20.
Miller and Bourque join an offense headlined by Katie Hoeg the program’s all-time points leader back for a fifth year and Jamie Ortega, two of the top offensive talents in the ACC. Scottie Rose Growney elevated her game to another level in 2020, further enhancing the offense. US Lacrosse Magazine announced Monday its 2021 Division I Women’s Preseason Positional Players of the Year, part of the magazine’s immersive coverage leading to the upcoming spring season.
Four players an attacker, midfielder, defender and goalie earned this distinction thanks to their performances during the 2020 season and our expectations for 2021.
Next Monday (Dec. 28), US Lacrosse Magazine will reveal its overall Division I Women’s Preseason Player of the Year.
