Nova Scotia reports 3 new cases of COVID-19 Thursday

Posted: Apr 15, 2021 2:39 PM AT | Last Updated: April 15 The 3 newly identified cases of COVID-19 are Nova Scotia residents currently outside the province.(Robert Short/CBC) Nova Scotia confirmed three new cases of COVID-19 on Thursday, all of which have been identified as the variant first reported in the U.K. The newly identified cases are Nova Scotia residents who are not in the province at this time. The cases still count toward the province s total of known active cases, which now stands at 42.  Two of the new cases are residents of the eastern health zone and one is a resident of the western health zone. 

N S schools receive green light to organize grad ceremonies but not proms

  HALIFAX Schools in Nova Scotia received the green light to organize graduation ceremonies for students this year. Nova Scotia Premier Iain Rankin announced the news on Tuesday, stating that approval was given by public health thanks to Nova Scotians adherence to public health guidelines. Rankin said schools will have guidelines to follow to ensure gathering limits and public health protocols are being followed. Students, staff and families will be there, will be able to gather in small groups in schools to recognize student achievement and success, said Rankin during a news conference on Tuesday. This is a large undertaking that will span several days for many schools.

This means a formal decision has not been made on the Atlantic bubble. He says the Atlantic Premiers are hoping to meet virtually later today, “Things aren’t going our way and the situation is difficult. I would say the Atlantic bubble opening on the19th is precarious right now.” King says that will be a decision that the Premiers will make together and a formal announcement will be made. He adds all signs are pointing to the fact that it will need to be delayed.
