As Covid cases surge, SKIMS cancels all sanctioned leaves As Covid cases surge, SKIMS cancels all sanctioned leaves File Photo SRINAGAR: In view of the continuous spike in COVID-19 cases, the SK Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS) administration Saturday announced cancellation of all the sanctioned leaves with immediate effect. “All the sanctioned leaves of the staff of SKIMS and its Medical College Bemina (except leave on extra ordinary grounds) are hereby cancelled with immediate effect in view of the surge of COVID-19 Pandemic cases,” reads an order by Director SKIMS Dr. A G Ahanger. “Accordingly, the employees are advised to resume duties immediately for maintenance of essential services. No fresh case of earned/casual leave shall be entertained,” it further adds. (KNO)

Omar gets 1st dose of COVID vaccine, says it was smooth, painless Srinagar, Apr 7 (UNI) Former chief minister and National Conference (NC) Vice President Omar Abdullah on Wednesday got the first dose of COVID-19 vaccine and said that it was smooth and painless affair. Mr Abdullah got the first dose of vaccine at S K Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS), Soura. “Got my 1st dose of the #COVIDvaccine this morning. It was a smooth & painless affair. I’m grateful to everyone at SKIMS, Srinagar for vaccinating me today,” Mr Abdullah wrote on micro-blogging site twitter. Meanwhile, Omar Abdullah’s father and National Conference (NC) president, who was admitted to SKIMS last week, reportedly once again tested positive for CVOID-19. Dr Abdullah had tested positive for COVID-19 on March 30, weeks after he got first dose of vaccine against the virus at SKIMS in Srinagar.

FIle Photo SRINAGAR: Asserting that COVID-19 patients often test positive for quite a few days as the viral load reduces, former chief minister Omar Abdullah on Wednesday said that his father and National Conference (NC) president Farooq Abdullah is responding well to treatment and does not require any supplementary oxygen support. Omar, who is the vice-president of National Conference (NC), was responding to reports that Dr Farooq has once again tested positive for COVID-19 “This is nothing unusual. COVID patients often test positive for quite a few days as the viral load reduces. The important thing is he is responding well to treatment & does not require any supplementary oxygen support,” he wrote on micro-blogging site twitter.

SSB Jawan falls to death in Ganderbal

Northlines Missing 4-yr-old found dead in Qazigund Ganderbal, Apr 05: A 35-year-old Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) died after falling from a five-storey building at Dignibal area of Central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district, officials said on Monday. An official told that SSB trooper identified as Jitendra Kumar of 13 Battalion died after falling from the 5th floor of the building at Dignibal. He said that the SSB trooper fell from the building and got injured following which he was shifted to SK Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS) where doctors declared him brought dead. The police officer further said that in this connection, inquest proceedings under 174 CrPC has been initiated at concerned Police Station
