Martha Marlow reveals her own pain on new album Medicine Man

Advertisement Legendary Australian adman Neil Lawrence was a long-time fan of the American singer-songwriter Randy Newman. One of his most treasured possessions: an autographed copy of Little Criminals, the 1977 LP that included the cheeky single Short People. So Newman’s Feels Like Home was a no-brainer when, in 2014, ideas for a new Qantas marketing campaign were percolating in Lawrence’s head. OED definitions of the noun “sanction” involve penalties or coercion, typically to enforce a law or treaty. Rather chillingly, a draft 1993 addition to the dictionary includes a new definition: “sanction: in military intelligence, the permission to kill a particular individual.”
