GREENSBORO, N.C., April 7, 2021 /PRNewswire/ Long-known as a generous community, the farmers named as the 2020 Farmers of the Year in 10 states took the opportunity provided by Syngenta to offer a hand to the charity of their choice. Syngenta gave $5,000 in donations in $500 increments to the charity chosen by each farmer in the 2020 Swisher Sweets/Sunbelt Expo Southeastern Farmer of the Year program.

Activities are underway to mark Multiple Sclerosis Awareness Month, set aside each year to call attention to the neurodegenerative disorder estimated to affect almost 1 million U.S. residents.
Patients, caregivers, family, and friends nationwide are running fundraisers, learning how to become activists, participating in educational and community discussions, and flooding social media platforms all to heighten awareness of multiple sclerosis (MS) among the general public, as well as to draw the attention of policymakers, public authorities, industry representatives, scientists, and health professionals.

The National Multiple Sclerosis Society was among 56 nonprofit organizations chosen by Bristol Myers Squibb to share an $11 million award supporting projects that promote health equity and access to better care across ethnically and racially diverse and underserved communities in the U.S.
Other awarded projects aim to promote diversity in clinical trials, and disease awareness and education among minority and other often overlooked groups, including those in the multiple sclerosis (MS) community.
The National MS Society will use its grant, whose amount was not specified, for the project“Addressing Health Equity Within the MS Movement.”
A separate grant, given to the Multiple Sclerosis Association of America, will support its effort titled “MSAA Hispanic/Latinx Advisory Board and Integrative Resources.”
Multiple Sclerosis Awareness Month Programs Focus on Improving Mental Health and Wellness
The Multiple Sclerosis Association of America (MSAA) recognizes March as Multiple Sclerosis (MS) Awareness Month, with its campaign theme being Improving Mental Health and Wellness.
Specific programs offered during March aim to address Purpose in Life, depression and anxiety in MS, care partnering, and wellness strategies to improve symptom management and overall quality of life. These digital educational activities throughout the month of March include:
