Schnuck Markets has appointed Ted Schnuck as the food retailer’s vice president, fresh.
He will lead strategy development and execution for fresh food categories including meat, seafood, bakery, produce, floral as well as deli and prepared foods. This assignment will also result in Schnuck joining the company’s Strategy Team, the 10-member team of executives tasked with leading the overall direction and execution of the company.
Schnuck has been with the family-owned company since 2015, and has held key positions in core functions including supply chain, marketing, business development and, most recently, in store operations where he held the Division Manager position, overseeing 11 stores located in the St. Charles, Missouri and Mid-Missouri markets.

We’ve all read the lists of jobs that could be made obsolete by artificial intelligence and automation: factory worker, bank teller, telemarketer, journalist (gulp!).
Although such listings aren’t new, a discussion paper published in September by the Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia suggested the pace of displacement likely has been accelerated by the coronavirus pandemic.
“[T]he pandemic-induced massive layoffs hit automatable jobs, especially those in the service sectors, particularly hard, putting those jobs at an elevated risk of being fully automated” and never returning, according to the paper.

Schnuck Markets, Inc. announced it will purchase gift cards from local restaurants and hand them out to store employees in an effort to curb the damage from the COVID-19 pandemic.
The supermarket chain said it will spend nearly $200,000, giving employees a $15 gift card to a restaurant located within five miles of their work location. As many families do this time of year, we wanted to support others in our ‘food family’ – in this case the many local restaurants negatively affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, Chairman and CEO Todd Schnuck said in a statement. Schnuck Markets is investing approximately $200,000 in the communities in which it operates by purchasing gift cards to local restaurants that will be awarded to all Schnucks teammates. Each Schnucks teammate will receive a $15 gift card to a restaurant located within five miles of his or her work location.
