Funds have also been earmarked for a new scoreboard to replace the one located at the end of the field closest to the high school.
“I’ve been looking at designs,” Schenectady athletic director Steve Boynton said. “It will look good when it is all done.”
Turf was first installed on Larry Mulvaney Field prior to the 2009-10 school year when Shenendehowa and Stillwater also made alterations to their facilities.
“The field turf has a 10-year life expectancy,” Boynton said. “The new turf we are looking at will stay for 15 to 20 years.”

SCHENECTADY – A city man responded to a relative being ousted from track practice by punching her coach, investigators said.
The head outdoor track and field coach had sent two female teammates home after they had an argument on Facebook, district spokeswoman Karen Corona said Tuesday.
Afterward, 20-year-old Hassan Alhassan of Schenectady came onto the track and twice punched the veteran coach in his face, according to police. He left in a vehicle.
The alleged assault occurred just before noon May 1.
The coach’s left eye and right jaw were injured, and he suffered pain, swelling and bruising to his face, according to police.

Terry Taylor found herself in a tenuous situation at the start of the pandemic: she had recently suffered a personal injury and her job as a tutor at Washington Irving was suspended amid hundreds of school district layoffs.
Taylor, who grew up in Schenectady’s Hamilton Hill neighborhood, started working as a paraprofessional at Schenectady High School in 2004, and after three years at the high school, she went back to school and earned a bachelor’s degree. In 2013, she returned to the district and worked as a tutor at Washington Irving, the district’s alternative school, which offers tutoring to students serving out suspensions. She did that up until the pandemic, when the job was cut.
