Harper Lane in Radlett finally reopens fully to drivers | St Albans & Harpenden Review

Harper Lane fully reopened to drivers on Tuesday after many months of frustration from drivers and businesses. The junction near Radlett should have reopened in February at the latest, but a blunder during the construction phase meant not enough turning space had been given to lorry drivers, which was putting pedestrians at risk. Hertfordshire County Council and housing developer Bloor Homes have since worked together to resolve the issue, which involved removing a traffic island that was making it difficult for large vehicles to turn right out of Harper Lane and into Watling Street. Two St Albans District Council homes recovered by anti-fraud team | St Albans & Harpenden Review

St Albans District Council offices Two tenants have been forced to hand back keys to the council following an investigation by anti-fraud officers. Measures to counter fraud have resulted in the recovery of two homes owned by St Albans District Council. One tenant was discovered to have sublet their property to another person while living elsewhere which the council says was a blatant breach of the tenancy agreement. Another tenant exercised their right to buy their home for a substantial discount on the market rate. However, checks indicated this tenant had left the property some time ago and had moved to another address without informing the council. This invalidated their right-to-buy claim.
