They discovered a fungus that looks like a gnome which is virtually new to science. A kind of ‘earthstar’ called, formally, Geastrum Brittanicum, was first found in Norfolk at the end of the last century. Kew Gardens identified it as a new species, as recently as 2015. Now it has raised its bobble head for the first time ever in Gloucestershire, just over from the Herefordshire border; and it was keen naturalist and conservation advisor, Danny Newman, who found it growing on a verge close to St Edward’s Church in Kempley. Mrs Newman said: “It is a spectacular fungus. “They say it looks like a little man, and the spores come out of the top of its head.

This Christmas has been different but it has made us all more aware to support the hungry, the homeless, those alone and those in need.
It has been different but, nevertheless, many people have worked hard to keep things as normal as possible.
I would especially like to thank all the staff at the renal unit at King George Hospital, Goodmayes. My husband needs to attend three times a week and we are so grateful for the care and dedication of the drivers and all the doctors and nurses at the unit.

Revd. David Simpson has been appointed as the new vicar of St Edward s Church in Romford.

St Edward s Church in Romford has appointed the Rev David Simpson (RN) as its next vicar.
Rev Simpson - expected to be fully operational in the parish by March 2021 - will come to St Edward s after many years with the Royal Navy Chaplaincy.
He replaces the Rev Mike Power, who departed in January.
Churchwarden Johanna Hardy said: The vicar of St Edward s is also by virtue of office the Vicar of Romford, with St Edward s being the civic and parish church of Romford. Therefore it is an important appointment within the diocese and the community.
