PAHO and UWI survey climate change, health knowledge

The Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) and UWI are doing a survey in several Caribbean countries as the basis for a health and climate project.
In a press release issued on Thursday, they said the aim of the survey is to understand what people in the Caribbean know about the links between climate change and their health. It is a fundamental tool to obtain reference information for the project that will last five years with funding from the European Union, explained the statement.

Malaria is a leading cause of death among children worldwide
A new type of malaria control has significantly brought down infection rates among children in the Ivory Coast in western Africa, according to new research published in The Lancet.
The device, developed by Dutch researchers and trialed over two years in combination with the use of window screens and insecticide-coated bed nets, was found to lower the incidence of malaria by around 40% to 50% in children aged between six months and 10 years old.
