Christmas week sees the largest ever HEALS support programme to bring festive cheer to 100 elderly residents and 40 vulnerable local families in the Malmesbury area. Three local pubs, The Wheatsheaf at Oaksey, The Somerford Arms in Little Somerford and The Red Bull Inn near Malmesbury, have cooked 100 hot Christmas meals for delivery today by 25 volunteer drivers. Deliveries also took place on Monday (December 21). Each senior citizen will also receive a hand drawn Christmas card from primary school children from Malmesbury C of E Primary School and St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School. Support from The Red Bull Inn and Somerford Arms extends further. The pubs are also hosting Covid compliant Christmas meals for 18 families this week, with free transport provided by Malmesbury’s Cartmell Community Minibus.
