The St Vincent De Paul’s Society is calling for donations for its Gatton CBD shop in a bid to help people facing financial pressures and to help with emergency assistance. But the volunteers have a strong message – if it’s not good enough to give to a friend, it’s not good enough to give to Vinnies. Ms Moore estimates that 20 per cent of donations in the Lockyer Valley make it to the shop – the rest are dumped.

Self-made millionaire Peter Freedman is the festival s knight in shining armour, having committed a minimum $5 million. Freedman was first introduced to the Sydney Festival 10 years ago by then festival director and friend Lieven Bertels and he made his first philanthropic gift of $100,000 in 2015. His gifts to date have totalled $1.6 million.

Jan 13, 2021 ESCANABA Delta County has been awarded federal funds made available through the Department of Homeland Security (DHS)/Federal Emergency Management Agency under the Emergency Food and Shelter National Board program. Delta County has been chosen to receive $19,038 to supplement emergency food and shelter programs in the county. The selection was made by a National Board that is chaired by the U.S. Department of Homeland Securityís Federal Emergency Management Agency and consists of representatives from American Red Cross; Catholic Charities, USA; National Council of the Churches of Christ in the USA; The Jewish Federations of North America; The Salvation Army and United Way Worldwide. The Local Board was charged to distribute funds appropriated by Congress to help expand the capacity of food and shelter programs in high-need areas around the country.
