Feb. 28 Police are investigating a double shooting in the parking lot that separates the Stanislaus County Office of Education s Media Center and the Quality Inn. The incident occurred shortly before 10 a.m. at the location on the 500 block of Kansas Avenue.
While collecting evidence at the scene, Sgt. Joe Bottoms said two victims showed up at Doctors Medical Center. Their wounds and how they were inflicted were being determined, he said.
Lt. Chris Adams confirmed a short time later that the two people, a man and a woman, were shot. Their wounds are not life-threatening, he said.

Patterson resident Jennifer M. Nicolau will fill the vacancy on the Yosemite Community College District Board of Trustees following the resignation of Anne DeMartini who left the Westport area for Nevada.
The provisional appointment came on Feb. 16, after she and four other applicants were interviewed by the board. Unless a petition is filed containing a sufficient number of signatures with the Stanislaus County Office of Education within 30 days of the appointment, it shall become effective.

YCCD Area 4 Trustee provisionally appointed Trustee Jennifer Nicolau
With the resignation of Area 4 Trustee, Anne DeMartini, from the Yosemite Community College District (YCCD) Board of Trustees, effective Jan. 3, the Board of Trustees has filled the vacancy by provisional appointment. In accordance with Education Code Section 5091, Jennifer M. Nicolau was provisionally appointed to the YCCD Board on Feb. 16, through an interview process in which all five trustee applicants were interviewed. Unless a petition is filed containing a sufficient number of signatures with the Stanislaus County Office of Education within 30 days of the provisional appointment, it shall become effective.
Should the provisional appointment become effective, Nicolau may serve until the results of the next regularly scheduled election for governing board members in November 2022 are finalized. The Area 4 position will be up for a full four-year term in the November 20
