Suspects in an October shooting at the Motel 6 in Oakdale are due in court Thursday, March 4 to face charges.
Oakdale Police last week reported the arrest of Amanda Cummings and Stephen DeLaTorre, both of Stockton, who were taken into custody by separate agencies. They were identified as the suspects in an Oct. 23 early morning shooting at the Motel 6, 825 E. F St., Oakdale. The victim said he chased the female suspect after she stole money from him; he was shot and the male suspect was the driver of the getaway car in the incident. The victim had non-life threatening injuries.

Stockton motorcyclist captured in police pursuit Branden Swamy
An unsafe maneuver that nearly caused a collision with another vehicle at Herndon Road and Joyce Avenue prompted a Ceres officer to go after its rider on Friday evening which ended in an arrest after a high-speed chase.
At 9:08 p.m., Officer Aaron Pinon attempted to stop motorcyclist Branden Swamy, 33, of Stockton, after he saw the reckless move. When the patrol car lights and siren were activated Swamy accelerated to 70 mph northbound on Herndon Road in an attempt to flee the officer.
A pursuit weaved around the residential areas west of Herndon Road and south of River Road before making it to northbound Highway 99 where he accelerated to over 110 mph. Officer Pinon received the help of other agencies – including the Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Department helicopter. A 29-year-old Dublin man riding in a car stopped in Ceres for expired registration was booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center early Friday for a felony warrant.
Officer Nicolas Welsh stopped a silver Mercedes on Hatch Road near Richland Avenue at 1:40 a.m. The driver was cited but passenger Dillon Smith, 29, of Dublin, was found to have a felony warrant for his arrest issued by the Sheriff’s Department. Smith was arrested without incident. Latest
