Wise resigned to become deputy fire chief for the city of Fremont in the Bay area. Ceres City Manager Tom Westbrook said the Ceres Fire Department will be administered by Interim Chief Mike Botto, who retired as Oakdale’s fire chief in 2011. Botto is experienced at stepping in to fill vacancies. When then Oakdale City Manager Steve Hallam was dismissed in April 2011, Botto stepped in to serve in an “interim” capacity as Acting City Manager.

  FRIDAY, JAN. 22 3:22 p.m. – Modesto Engine 29 responded to Highway 108 and Kennedy Road in the community of Knights Ferry to assist Tuolumne County Fire with securing a helicopter landing zone for a patient from out of the county. 8:02 p.m. – Modesto, Stanislaus and Ceres units responded to a working structure fire in the 3000 block of Gatesville Avenue. Crews arrived on scene with an active fire in the attic and around the exterior of the chimney. The fire was contained to the attic, wall and roof of the second story. No injuries were reported. Fire cause was accidental in nature related to a wood burning stove.

Resident of north Modesto mobile home park treated after escaping burning unit [The Modesto Bee] Dec. 20 A resident of the Homewood Village Mobile Home Park on Mable Avenue in north Modesto was treated for smoke inhalation after escaping his burning residence Saturday night, the Modesto Fire Department reported. Crews from the Modesto, Ceres and Stanislaus Consolidated departments were dispatched about 9:42 to the fire at Homewood Village, located at 2000 Mable. The first to arrive found the man’s mobile home heavily involved in fire, which threatened nearby mobile homes. Firefighters contained the blaze to the home of origin, limiting the other units to some heat damage, Battalion Chief Darin Jesberg said Sunday.
