New coronavirus variant, first found in India, was discovered in a Bay Area patient by Stanford s Clinical Virology Lab. KTVU s Candese Charles reports.
OAKLAND, Calif. - Another form of coronavirus has been detected in the Bay Area by Stanford University. We identified this new Indian variant last week just immediately after it was reported in the lay press, says Dr. Ben Pinsky, Stanford Clinical Virology Lab Director.
Pinsky says the Indian Variant, dubbed Double Mutant by the Indian media, was found in a patient in one of their Bay Area clinics.
