Report: Blackhawks Legend Chris Chelios Expected to Join ESPN NHL Coverage

The NHL is leaving NBC after the conclusion of the Stanley Cup Final. NBC was even scheduled to broadcast the Seattle Expansion Draft and the Entry Draft in July, but NBC gave up the coverage to ESPN because of the Summer Olympics conflicting with the broadcast schedule. With the league heading to ESPN and Turner Sports for the next seven years, a slew of hockey broadcasters have been signing new deals with the two networks in preparation for the new coverage beginning in July. NHL-Lightning thrash Canadiens 5-1 in Stanley Cup Finals opener

By Syndicated Content Jun 28, 2021 | 10:29 PM (Reuters) – The Tampa Bay Lightning kicked off their NHL title defense in dominant fashion on Monday by downing the Montreal Canadiens 5-1 in front of roaring hometown crowd in Game 1 of the best-of-seven Stanley Cup Finals series. Slovakian defenseman Erik Cernak got the party started early for the heavily favoured Lighting with a redirect goal in the first period before Yanni Gourde extended the lead to 2-0 in the second as the Canadiens struggled to get a foothold into the game at Amalie Arena. Montreal, who have defied the odds throughout the postseason as they look to end Canada’s 28-year Stanley Cup drought, showed signs of life later in the second as Ben Chiarot scored on a deflection but the Lightning dished out more pain in the third.

Biden Is Down For A Stanley Cup Wager With Canadian PM Justin Trudeau

“Two of the best teams in the NHL are facing off right now… how about a friendly wager, @POTUS? #GoHabsGo #StanleyCup,” Trudeau tweeted. “You’re on pal. #GoBolts,” replied Biden in a quote tweet. The two world leaders most recently met at the G7 Summit in Britain, where they bonded over shared interests in combating climate change and working to help the world economy recover from the economic effects of the COVID-19 pandemic. The Tampa Bay Lightening beat the New York Islanders last Friday in a 1-0 victory in Game 7 of the Stanley Cup Playoffs, ending the Islander’s hopes of winning the Stanley Cup for the first time in nearly two decades.
