Stardate: 50485.2 Station log: Sisko goes to Marva IV, a Maquis colony, to meet with a contact who has information about Eddington’s whereabouts. Instead, he’s confronted by Eddington. The Maquis learned of the informant and trapped him on a planet in the Badlands for his trouble. Eddington shows Sisko the refugees from a Federation colony ceded to the Cardassians. Sisko points out that they were offered resettlement, but Eddington says they don’t want that, they want to go home. Sisko points out that that dream of going back home is pretty much dead, and these people are living in caves because they believe the Maquis party line.

Stardate: unknown Captain’s log. Voyager has spent the last two weeks helping out the Varro. A very xenophobic people, they’ve been living on a massive, segmented generation ship for four centuries. They only very reluctantly have accepted Voyager’s offer of help because their warp drive is offline and they can’t fix it. Kim and one of the Varro, an engineer named Derran Tal, have been carrying on an illicit affair. This is violation of both sides’ regulations. Star Trek The Original Series Rewatch: A Taste of Armageddon

Captain’s log. The Enterprise has been hailing the people of the Eminiar star system. Ambassador Robert Fox is on board, as the Federation is hoping to open up diplomatic relations, but there’s been no response. Uhura finally gets an answer: a code 710, which is a message that there is conflict and to stay away or risk being damaged. Fox orders Kirk to disobey the 710 despite the very real risk to the Enterprise, so Kirk sighs and orders yellow alert and goes in. Fox’s orders are to open diplomatic relations with these planets so the Federation can establish a needed port there.
