ANGOLA â In just two weeks, Steuben Countyâs positive COVID-19 cases have dropped by about 50%, said a report released Wednesday by the Steuben County Health Department.
In the most recent demographic report, Steuben County registered 105 new cases for the seven-day period ending Wednesday.
That compares to the one-week period ending Jan. 6 when there were 219 new cases. Last weekâs report showed 175 new cases, which was the first time in two months that there were less than 200 new cases in a week.
Deaths continue to mount at a steady pace at a time when other counties in the area are seeing a decline.
ANGOLA — The Steuben County Disaster Response Fund, a collaboration between Steuben County Community Foundation and Steuben County United Way, has awarded a $30,000 grant to support countywide vaccination efforts.
CROOKED LAKE â COVID-19 vaccinations of people 80 and older from Steuben County has begun in earnest at the Steuben County Event Center in the Steuben County Park.
Vaccinations started for that age group on Monday. On Tuesday, the Steuben County Health Department was starting to work in concert with Cameron Memorial Community Hospital, which continues to be the lead agency running the clinic.
âWe couldnât have asked for a better partner than Cameron,â said Alicia Walsh, administrator of the Steuben County Health Department.
The vaccination clinic was set up by Cameron in December as vaccines started being made available, first for health care workers. The first inoculations started on Dec. 18 and as many as 300-plus people have been vaccinated a day.
