Police are appealing for the public’s help after an elderly man was injured by two youths in Woodberry yesterday.
Port Stephens-Hunter Police District were called to Lawson Avenue at 4:40pm following reports of a man with facial injuries.
They found a 78-year-old man with abrasions to his nose and cheek.
Officers were told the man was walking along the footpath when he saw two young men in front of him.
One of the boys rode across the street on a black or dark blue bike, before the other boy allegedly demanded money and the man’s mobile phone.
When the man refused, the boy picked up a large stick and swung it at him, causing him to fall to the ground.
