Crown admits tax rort, but still not ‘candid’ with government Save Share Crown Resorts has admitted to the Victorian government that it evaded the state’s casino tax for almost 10 years, but the casino giant only confessed to underpaying $8 million despite some legal advice indicating the amount could be much higher. Giving evidence to the Victorian royal commission on Tuesday, Crown’s new chief executive, Steve McCann, said he wrote to the state government admitting to the illegal underpayment last week, but denied he included an estimate in the bottom range to secure a bargaining position.
