STERLING HEIGHTS, Mich. – A couple who died after battling COVID-19 left behind three children.
Those children now need help paying the bills. A close friend has been helping them navigate the finances. However, the Sterling Heights Police Department decided officers could help, too.

(WXYZ) â The Sterling Heights Police Department worked with the community to come together for a family who lost both parents to COVID-19 this year.
The City of Sterling Heights posted video on Monday of police officers helping decorate the family s home and deliver gifts to the kids.

Sterling Heights PD building bridges with community with their free police academy

STERLING HEIGHTS, Mich. (FOX 2) - Sterling Heights Police Department launched its free citizens police academy. The academy gives residents a first-hand look at what it takes to be a police officer in their community - including training with firearms.
Civilians get 30 hours of instruction from Sterling Heights officers, including shoot-don’t-shoot simulations, tazer training and a day with a police dog.
