Bus services in Cumbria have been changed by Stagecoach to comply with government lockdown guidelines. Stagecoach Cumbria and North Lancashire is reducing some services but maintaining links for those that have to travel with early and late buses still running. The changes will happen from Monday. In most cases services.
Stagecoach has announced alterations to its timetables, that come into force from today. Many of the routes in the county will move to a ‘school holiday’ timetable following the introduction of a period of national lockdown, with Carlisle and Penrith seeing the greatest changes, with a mostly Saturday timetable from Monday to Friday. The 104 service will not serve Center Parcs during the week, and the late evening journeys will also not run. Services 76 and 62 will run to a Saturday timetable, but will have some extra journeys to accommodate key workers. Services 685, 508 and 563 will run a Monday to Friday service akin to when the schools and universities are closed.

POSITIVE CASES: Carlisle staff members are being tested for Covid Stagecoach has confirmed that services in Carlisle have not been affected after a number of staff members tested positive for Covid-19, prompting the start of a mass testing programme. Staff were told this week that a programme of widespread coronavirus testing for Carlisle Stagecoach staff members had been put in place, following a recent spike in positive Covid cases among drivers and the operations team. The company has said however that there was no evidence of Covid-19 transmission in the workplace among Stagecoach staff members in Carlisle. Following discussions with Public Health England, a testing programme was arranged just before Christmas, in which staff members without symptoms would be screened for Covid-19.
STAGECOACH has responded to claims of an outbreak of coronavirus at its Kendal depot. An email to The Westmorland Gazette from a person who said they were a bus driver reported at least eight drivers had tested positive at the Beezon Road depot. A Stagecoach spokesman said a small number of employees were self-isolating and that there was absolutely no evidence of workplace transmission . The spokesman said an extensive testing exercise had been carried out in conjunction with South Lakeland District Council. A spokesman for Stagecoach Cumbria and North Lancashire said: The safety and well-being of our employees and customers is our first priority and we have strict protocols in place around the management of Covid-19.
