(KNSI) – Step back in time at the Stearns History Museum this weekend and experience the homefront during World War II.
Home: A World War II Experience and At Ease: A World War II Evening will occur on Saturday and Sunday.
Visitors to the daytime events will glimpse what life was like on the home front in Stearns County.
Museum Program Curator Caitlin Carlson says the war took over life in Central Minnesota.
“Everyone was fighting their own version of the war. Whether they were working in factories that had switched over from what they had done before to manufacturing plane parts. Everyone was making stuff for the war. Kids and families planted Victory Gardens. You have people collecting scrap rationing was a big deal. You couldn’t have as much coffee as you were used to or as much sugar. You had to take your ration books to the grocery store. It basically affected every part of your life.”
